Deadra Woods Stokes

Attorney at Law

Deadra Woods Stokes joined Chicago-Kent College of Law as an Assistant Clinical Professor in January 2023, bringing over 28 years of extensive trial experience to the institution. Since 2000, she has served as Managing Partner for several boutique law firms, where she has represented clients in Probate, Estate Planning, Real Estate, Civil Litigation, Business Law, and Bankruptcy.

In addition to her legal practice, Stokes has a strong commitment to education. She began teaching as an Adjunct Professor at Governors State University in 2011, where she has instructed courses in Business Law for the College of Business, along with several courses in the Master of Arts in Criminal Justice and Ph.D. programs for Interdisciplinary Studies. She also serves as an Administrative Hearing Officer for the villages of Robbins and Matteson, IL, presiding over cases related to Village Code enforcement.

Stokes' community involvement is extensive and impactful. She is the Chief Commissioner of the Police and Fire Board for the Village of Frankfort, Illinois, and serves on the Lincoln Way 210 School District Board. An active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Links, Incorporated, and Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., she is dedicated to community uplift and service.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Xavier University of Louisiana and her Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
